The Beach

Yesterday was a wonderful day. We decided to shake up our routine and go to the beach instead of Nick's tennis program. (Since tennis is every day and Nick is only 6, I'm fine with skipping sessions if there is something else we want to do. I wanted tennis to be a fun activity, not a soul-crushing commitment that must be kept no matter what.)

The boys and I had a blast splashing around, chasing fish, and building sandcastles. I'm not normally a beach person, but it is so much fun to go with the kids and lose yourself by doing what they do. One of the things I'm learning during this time spent at home with them is how to live in the moment and just enjoy myself.

Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera to the beach. Probably for the best since it likely would have ended up sandy, wet, and lost.

Since I have no beach pictures, I thought I would share some older photos from the archive.

Allison and the boys from our vacation last summer. Neat to see how the boys have changed since then.

Self-portrait of me with Xander on my shoulders from earlier this summer. What's happening to my hair???

Nick on the last day of kindergarten. Too cool for pictures.
