Bug Hunters!

Last night Allison bought Xander the Go Diego Go Bug Collector set. The set consists of a little butterfly net, a bug vacuum (a flashlight sized dustbuster for sucking up specimens), and a bug habitat.

This morning it was time for some bug hunting. After 10 minutes of futility, the boys called in the big guns (aka me). Ok, it wasn't completely futile; they caught some sort of gnat. Anyway, I was able to suck up a mosquito and a spider. Nick then caught an ant.

All of these unfortunate creatures were dumped into the bug habitat for our education and amusement. Great fun was had by all. Except maybe the bugs...

UPDATE: At some point during afternoon naps, the spider and the ant executed an elaborate escape plan. You see the ant pretended to be sick and when I opened the lid to check on him, the spider jumped me and took the keys. Actually, I think they went out through the air holes. I'm thinking about taping them closed. How much air do a couple of bugs need anyway? In any case, all we have left is a lonely mosquito. Actually, he's probably pretty happy that the spider took off. Personally I'm disapointed. I was hoping for a bug cage match to the death. I had money on the spider.

Ha, ha, ha! I could so see that on AFV. (You'd win the $10k.)
