Alexi from the Ukraine

Last night I ran to the neighborhhood store to get some cereal for today. While I was there, I noticed a tall blond guy kind of looking at me. He came over and introduced himself as 'Alexi' and asked how many meters tall I was. That's a tough question to be asked. Stupid metric system.

Anyway, we chatted for a while and it turns out that he is a 22-year-old veterinary student from the Ukraine participating in a 4-month exchange program with the U of M. He was a very nice guy who was very impressed with how big I was, even though I'm maybe a half-inch taller than him. He was also impressed that I knew the capital of Ukraine. (It's Kiev.)

Anyway, I'm just glad the situation didn't turn out like this.
