Madison - Day 1

The day started off pretty well. I woke up early and went for a long walk from the hotel to the state capitol to the UW campus and finally back to the hotel. Very refreshing. Madison is a nice college town - the kind of place that makes you wish you were 18 again.

The boys managed to sleep in. After they woke up, we hit the hotel restaurant for breakfast. We had a nice view of the Lake Menona Rowing Club practicing out on the lake. It's nice eat a hearty breakfast while watching other people exercise.

After breakfast it was off to Noah's Ark waterpark in the Dells. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate. It started out partly sunny, but clouded up shortly after we arrived. There was also a fairly cool breeze. It was a pleasant day for anything but swimming.

Still, we gave it a good try. Nick spent the majority of his time in the Big Kahuna wave pool. He'd battle the waves and then take a break to warm up when they turned the waves off. It was all a little too chilly for Xander, so he didn't do much swimming. (Consequently, neither did I.) We enjoyed a nice lunch and then went back to wave pool until I decided Nick was in danger of hypothermia.

After getting cleaned up (and warmed up!), we played some mini-golf and hit the Dairy Queen on the way out of town. Of course by this time it was sunny and considerably warmer. Oh well. (Oh yeah, some jicky jack gave me a monster door ding in the DQ parking lot. Grrr.)

We got back to Madison just in time to meet Allison as she was coming back from her conference. We went out for dinner and then went on a driving tour of Madison. The kids were bored senseless, but we enjoyed it. It seems like it would be a nice place to live.

I forgot my camera or there would be pictures. Sorry.
